To understand more about it, keep reading.

    What are spider veins?

Spider veins are small, blood vessels that may appear on the face or the legs. They may be purple, red, or blue and form webs or thin lines or branches. Hence, they are named spider webs. Many times, they are also referred to as thread veins or marble veins.

    Causes

Spider veins in the hands and legs are caused by the abnormal function of the valves inside the veins. Veins carry blood back to the heart to prevent blood from flowing backward, and veins have a valve that closes once the blood passes through it. Damage or weakening of the valve allows blood to flow backward instead of upwards. It can also pool inside the vein and cause a bulge underneath the skin, resulting in spider veins.

Sun damage or increased pressure often causes the bursting of the blood vessels on the face.
